Gareon Conley, an All-Big Ten second team pick by the coaches and a third team selection by the media, has been projected by NFL Draft Guru Matt Miller and others to be a First Round pick in the upcoming 2017 NFL Draft. Conley’s stellar play was statistically confirmed by Pro Football Focus who has him as the top rated defender coming out of Ohio State this year. His game-clinching and game-changing interceptions against Michigan State and Wisconsin respectively helped propel Ohio State to an 11-2 season and a birth in the 2016 College Football Playoff.

Conley, a four-year player at Ohio State, a 2014 National Champion, and a two-year starter at OSU was the Number 1 player in Ohio as a senior in High School at Massillon Washington (ESPN 150). He was also a first-team Associated Press Division I all-state selection, earned consensus four-star status (ESPN, Scout, 247Sports, Rivals) and played in the Under Armour All-American game.

Before committing to Ohio State, Conley was committed to play football at the University of Michigan. In a stunning turn of events, he de-committed and committed to play for The Ohio State University. In December of 2016, Conley graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelors in Sport Industry. Because of his excellent performance on the field, he’s affectionately known by his fans as “Conley Island.”

What is Conley Island?
Conley Island ( a play on New York's historic "Coney Island")  was created as a reference to Gareon frequently playing on an island against opposing teams top receivers, shrinking the field, and  freeing up his teammates in Ohio State's B.I.A( Best In America)  secondary  to make big plays.

#ConleyIsland was seen trending on social media throughout the season because of Gareon's frequent impact on games in key moments. Whether it was the game winning interception against Michigan State or the momentum changing interception against Wisconsin, QB's weren't rewarded with great results when they attempted to throw on " Conley Island"

Beyond  the gridiron , the name also has a personal meaning to  Gareon. It serves as a representation of his life off the field and all of those who have helped him along his journey. Some of these people include his family, his high school(Massillon Washington), Stark County( the birthplace of  pro football and where he's from), Ohio State, and all of his fans.
